Review: Maybelline New York Volum’ Express One by One Satin Black Mascara

Here I have got the limited edition Maybelline New York Volum’ Express One by One Satin Black Mascara. This mascara has been released to coincide with Maybelline’s partnership with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2012. And with a RRP $19.25 for 9.6mL, it is also quite affordable.

Features:

• Bright Pink tube with a very raunchy corset pattern
• Thick sturdy handle 
• 300 bristles to catch each and every lash
• One coat creates great length but is suitable for daytime use
• Two or more coats create a false lash effect
• Made in Italy

Likes:

• Does not clump
• Defines my lashes
• It is so easy to coat my bottom lashes with this (I usually get mascara on my skin when I attempt to coat my bottom lashes)
• Effortless, takes no time at all to apply

Dislikes:

• If my eyes start to water I have noticed that this mascara stings my eyes a little
• Does not stay put all day, I have noticed a bit of smudging under my eyes by 5pm on a number of occasions since my first use

As with all mascara's one need to use this product a couple of times to get used to the brush and to accomplish the look they are wanting. Below is a image of my eye without any eye makeup on and the next image is the same eye with the application of the Maybelline New York Volum’ Express One by One Satin Black Mascara.

Though I have always been a huge fan of Maybelline Mascara's I would have to say that this is a mascara that I would not purchase again. The main reason is because I didn't like the stinging feeling the mascara gave me when my eyes watered, which is something that I have never experienced before and which I find a little concerning. Second because I am not a fan of experiencing panda eyes in the middle of the day, I have other non-waterproof mascaras that do not smudge like this one.
The lash effect created with the mascara was good since it lengthened my lashes and was easy to use but it does not compensate for the two reasons why I would not purchase this one again.

EOTD Using MarbleEyes by Nutrimetics and Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner

Hi all!
So nice to be back.
Today I thought I would test some of the products that I have at home and show you the look that I have created.
To get the following look I have used:

• Nutrimetics MarbleEyes Eyeshadow in Lunar
• Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner
• A smokey looking eyeshadow
• Mascara

The process to achieve this look is as follows:

1. Experiment with the eyeliner, I ended up with a double wing flick at the outer edge of my eyelid.
2. Apply the the smokey eyeshadow on the outer corner of the eyelid. 
3. Apply the Nutrimetics MarbleEyes Eyeshadow in green the the outer part of the eyelid using your finger for the lid and a brush for the skin under the brow.
4. Repeat the above step in blue for the inner corner of the eye.
5. Apply mascara to the upper lashes and brush a brush a tiny amount onto the bottom lashes (mostly for colour since my eyelashes are blondish)

My Australia Day Eye Makeup

Well whilst preparing for Australia Day I thought I would do something special with my eyes and so I went to the Beauty Heaven Forums for some inspiration in the thread called Can We Do It??? Yes We Can!!! And I decided to try out one of the looks from page 86.

This look itself was easy to create with just a black eyeliner on the top lid and a blue eyeliner across the bottom lid. I used; Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Onyx and Marcelle Kohl Eyeliner in Noble Purple (though it doesn't look purple to me!).

EOTD, JK jemma kidd Fashion Palette in action!

Today I will show you how I apply the eye shadows from the JK Jemma Kidd Fashion Makeup Palette that I blogged about yesterday and show you how they look on my skin which I would describe as pale with yellow undertones.

Rather than following the direct instructions on the inside of the palettes lid which is way too bold for my complexion, especially if I am going for a daytime look, I do it this way instead and at the end should look like this:

1.  First to prepare the surface of the eyelid by applying an eye primer or a concealer, I find that the concealer works just as well as a primer and is much cheaper too since I have concealers floating around that don’t match my skin that well which is easily hidden under eye shadows.
2. Starting with the glittery black eyeliner you can get very close to the upper lash line because it is super easy to apply. You don’t need to press down hard or go over the same place many times unless you are trying to get a bolder line, it just glides on and the glittery flecks are minimal therefore giving you some glittery but is no way over the top.
3. Then apply the neutral shade to the entire lid and up to the eyebrow.
4. The defining colour is applied to the outer segment of the upper lash line and just over half way across the crease line, once again starting from the outer corner and this is blended in.
5. Then apply your normal mascara to your lashes.
6. Also if you have a eyebrows like me it is best to darken your eyebrows a bit so that the deep colours do not look too dark on you.

See the two images below to see the finished look on both eyes. Please note I didn't put any foundation on the skin surrounding my eyes so my skin is looking a bit reddish.
