GWP ModelCo Mascara

If I had blogged about this Model Co Mascara a week ago I would have raved about how great it looked and how it gave me long and separated lashes that didn't smudge. But my love of this product was short lived.
ModelCo Mascara, gift with purchase

I got this Model Co Mascara as a gift with purchase of a Womens Health Magazine about two weeks ago and I opened it right away and used it the same day. The magazine was ~$7.50 and the mascara is apparently worth $28 so I thought it was a bargain especially with the great results I got the first few times I used it.
Inbuilt mirror in tube of the mascara
It comes with an inbuilt mirror in the belly of the tube which is also very handy as you can see what you are doing up close without needing to lean into your bathroom mirror. The wand isn’t too bad either, it looks traditional and it easily reaches hard to reach places with the thinner tip.

But by the end of the first week the mascara glugged up on me :( which I am not happy about. I washed the brush just in case it was a build up of fibre but when I put the brush back in the tube it came out with mascara that was just as gluggy and the build up of mascara on the inner end is just gross and hard to use.
The brush of the ModelCo Mascara was nice enough but not with the mascara which became very gluggly within a week of use

Sadly I did not take a before picture of what the mascara did when I first got it so I cannot show you how much difference a week makes. Now as you can see from the image below the lashes still comes out relatively long after use but not as long as I got from using this product when I first got it and the end result is now also very gluggy which cannot be brushed out using a clean wand.
I have applied the ModelCo mascara only on my top lashes, the now gluggy formula is not as elongating as it was before and the look is also gluggly too, even after I have used a clean mascara brush afterwards to remove some of the glugginess.
So my tip is if you ever see this mascara whether it is on the shelf or a gift with a purchase of a magazine, unless you are really interested in the magazine, give it a miss, it is not even worth the ~$7.50 I payed.

Photo's: An object amongst scenery

Just like with having a person in a photo if there is a particular object in the scene that you are taking a photo of just putting it in the center of the frame is not enough for making an interesting photograph. Zoom in, wether it is a castle on a mountain or a boat on the water zooming in until it takes up at least 1/4 of the frame, even if it is only on the top right hand corner of the shot will increase the viewers interest in what it there as their eye is naturally drawn to it and there will be more detail visible for them to examine.

NOTD Ozotic Nail Polish #530 – Elytra

When I first received the Ozotic Nail Polish in #530 – Elytra 15mL RRP$14.95. I first thought that it was a cute mix of red gold and pink coloured glitter in one polish when I was looking at the glitter in the bottle.

But when I applied it I found that it is actually one type of glitter that reflects a different colour depending on which angle you look at it that ranges from gold to orange to red then to purple. An effect that is very hard to capture on camera as you can see on my nails in the image below it just looks like pieces of dark colour dots on my nails.
Ozotic Nail Polish in #530
In the image below you can have a better look at how much glitter I got per coat of polish:
  • ·         Index finger: one thin coat
  • ·         Middle finder: two thin coats
  • ·         Wedding finger: three thin coats
  • ·         Pinky finger: two thicker coats
Closer look at my nail beds and how much glitter is dispensed per coat. From top to bottom, one coat, two coats, three coats, two heavier coats.
Tip I found that when consider longevity I found that two thicker coats lasted longer than three thinner coats.

Here is the low down on the polish:
Pros:
  • ·         Free from toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde and camphor.
  • ·         Easy to apply
  • ·         Super fast drying time.
  • ·         Not bad longevity if you don’t pick at it (see comment below)
Cons
  • ·         I found that it did peel a bit but the longevity wasn’t too bad, after half a week or a bit more it would still look pretty good if you were not temped to peel it off if you saw a lifted corner.

Score! BH Blogstar gift!

Every year the lovely girls at BH hosts the Blog Star competition and last year I decided to bite the bullet and write my first ever two blogs and I entered!

But even though I did not win (not that I was expecting to with so many magnificent submissions) the ladies at BH made sure that every early entry was a winner by having 200 Maybelline Packs up for grabs. It has been quite a few months but finally my Maybelline Prize pack came in. I was only expecting one pack as I thought it was one pack per person who entered but it was actually one pack per entry therefore I came home to see two parcels waiting for me on the kitchen table.

BH Blogstar Prize Pack!
And if you wanted a closer look at the Maybelline Hyper Diamonds Eyeshadow in Bronze Diamonds

In case you cannot see the above pictures I got a Maybelline Hyper Diamonds Eye Colour Pallet in Bronze Diamonds and a Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner in Blackest Black. Which I have already tested, the colour is fantastically deep and the line is very thin and easy to apply.

Yikes! In the Prize front I have had a very good luck in the last three months compared to the fact that  I never used to win anything... But I am still waiting on that big one, I’m not too fussy I’ll take either the house, car or the cash! But I think I am just dreaming here :(

February Bellabox!

I feel so lucky, thanks to the great girls at Primed I came home today to a very nice surprise parcel which was a Bellabox parcel!
Upon opening the beautiful packaging I found that it was packed full of goodies that included:

My February Bellabox, each item listed below has been numbered and corresponds to the numbers in the above image
 1.     Bastiste dry shampoo, 150mL RRP$9.95
This is such a life saving product for those of us who suffer from greasy products who doesn’t want to be constantly washing their hair. This pleasantly smelling dry shampoo is just sprayed on, massaged in then brushed out. Easy.

2.     Ozotic Nail Polish in #530 – Elytra 15mL RRP$14.95
A cute mix of red gold and pink coloured glitter in one polish. This polish is also free from toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde and camphor. I have already tried this on and it dries superfast and with I found that the nail polish was easy to apply with the brush provided.

3.     Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Trollop 8mL RRP$16
With this 100% Vegan and Cruelty free I guess you cannot go wrong. But I am a little hesitant since it does contain cannabis sativa (hemp) oil. But I presume all is legal here or else it shouldn’t have been included. A small dot on my hand showed that this lip tar is super pigmented so therefore a little goes a long way.

4.     Madly Kenzo! Eau de Parfum 4mL (sample)
I wish that the sun was still up because then I could actually take a picture of this cute little bottle which is supposed to look like a simplified butterfly wing. I found it to be a lovely floral fragrance but when I did a quick google search on it I found that most people either loved it or hated it.

5.     Orofluido Beauty Elixir for your hair 5mL (sample)
This golden coloured oil which should be applied to wet or damp hair smells absolutely delicious. I was trying to figure it out for ages but apparently when I looked it up it is supposed to smell of amber with vanilla foundation.

6.    Lancome Visionnaire [LR 2412 4%] 5mL (sample)
Another very pretty smelling product this skin corrector is very liquidly and sadly I don’t think the tube contains the 5mL that it claims to contain. This miracle product claims to correct your skin from the appearance of wrinkles, pores and unevenness.

7.     Gatineau Anti Wrinkle Concentrate ?2.5mL? (sample)
A super expensive product I found that this Anti Wrinkle Concentrate (serum) felt very pleasant on my skin and my skin felt super smooth even after just the one application.

8.     Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel 3mL (sample)
This works by applying a small amount onto freshly cleansed skin and letting it do its thing for 10-15. The enzymes in the Papaya and Pineapple work as a natural exfoliant and the peel smells very nice too.

When I get the opportunity to I will review some of the full sized products properly.

Anything here you would love to get your hands on?

Photos: Children and Pets

When taking photos of pets or children, get down to their level by bending down or crouching down.
Getting eye level with them or getting close enough to see their face clearly and have the photo 'look them in the eye' makes the photo seem that much more personal and engaging.
